

Beth Shannon, DVM
Dr. Shannon graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. She practiced in the south suburbs of Chicago for seven years. She returned to her hometown area and has since practiced in the Iowa City - Coralville - North Liberty communities. Dr. Shannon is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is an Associate Editor of the Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging Folder on the Veterinary Information Network, and has a special interest in internal medicine. Dr. Shannon enjoys reading, photography, and sharing her condo with her Burmese cats "Minky" and "Mouse."

Barbara Shields, DVM
Dr. Shields graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After graduation she moved to California with her husband and practiced veterinary medicine in the Central Valley for eleven years. During 2004 the Shields' welcomed a son into their family and eleven months later they welcomed twin daughters. In the summer of 2012, the Shields family moved back to Iowa to be closer to family. Besides a husband and three children, Dr. Shields' family includes two Vizslas "Clifford" and "Ruby", a Poodle mix named "Diego", and three cats "Boots, Matie, and Ghost." Dr. Shields is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association.

Lindsey Sullivan, DVM
Dr. Sullivan grew up in the Oskaloosa area and received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007. She graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After graduation she practiced veterinary medicine in Vinton, Iowa. Dr. Sullivan is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Sullivan especially enjoys client education and welcomes opportunities to speak to children about veterinary medicine. In her spare time Dr. Sullivan enjoys hiking, biking, reading, and hanging out with her Silver Persian, "Mortimer."

Mark Carlson, DVM
Dr. Mark Carlson graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He received an MS in Environmental Science from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and a BS in Biology from Quincy College. He grew up in the small town of Greenfield Illinois, the son of a large animal veterinarian. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Carlson worked as an environmental consultant and as cartographer for The National Geographic Society. He worked in small animal practice for nearly 20 years in New Jersey and is back to this area to be near family and his Midwestern "roots". Dr. Carlson is a member of both the American and Iowa Veterinary Medical Associations. He lives on a small farm in Mount Pleasant with his wife Debbie, Molly the dog, Blue the cat, and Apollo and Honey the horses.

Gretchen Muhonen, DVM
Dr. Gretchen Muhonen grew up in south central Pennsylvania - near Hershey. She graduated from Penn State University in 2007 and received her veterinary medical degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She has been practicing in central and northwest Pennsylvania. Her interests in veterinary medicine include routine/preventative care and dermatology.
Dr. Muhonen's husband, John, has recently completed his general surgery residency with UPMC. Their family, which includes their sons Carter and Miles, is relocating to Iowa City so that John can complete a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Iowa. Gretchen, John, Carter, and Miles enjoy outdoor activities including trail walking, biking, hiking, and camping. The Muhonens share their home with their two cats Nysa and Maggie and their dog Murdock.
